Pokerstars Gear Up For SCOOP
Online poker room PokerStars are getting ready for the return of the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) this week, with the 38 event tournament series due to begin this weekend.
The first event will take place on Sunday 2nd May and will be based on a 6-max No Limit Hold’em tournament.
The tournament series offers a wide variety of tournaments for members to try their hand at and with the wide variety of buy in costs that the site has set, almost every real money player will be able to get a slice of the action.
Unlike a number of other larger online poker tournament series, SCOOP will offer tournament play for variants that seem to have been forgotten by other online poker rooms, Badugi been the main variant that isn’t widely available anywhere else.
The series will be headlined by a 2 day main event which will offer players a number of levels of buy in, ranging from $109 right up to $10,300.
Tournaments on are never a small thing and with the site occupying the title of being the biggest online poker room in the world, it’s no surprise to anyone to see these tournaments filling up rapidly.
Bryan Slick who works for PokerStars commented on the hype that have been created as the series draws closer:
“The amount of competition available is just incredible and this year’s SCOOP schedule should provide at least a little bit of something interesting for all players no matter what game they prefer or at what stakes level they’re most comfortable.
In terms of buzz, of course the high-stakes main event is generating a lot of excitement due to its five million dollar guarantee and the fact that we’re guaranteeing one million dollars to the tournament champion. Someone’s life is going to change at the conclusion of that event and others and that’s really exciting.”

Liberty Poker Club Shuts Down
The Liberty Poker Club has been shut down due to the club operating outside of the law and with that been agreed, the clubs owners will now have to stand in front of a judge to battle to have the club reopened.
The legal hearing will take place tomorrow and the owners are expected to want to ask the judge to allow the club to reopen once again, this time with strict guidelines that the club will follow in order to be in line with the law.
Another company that has been affected by the Liberty Poker Club’s closure is Club Infiniti which opened within the Liberty Multiplex but since the poker club was instructed to close, the doors have also been closed on Club Infiniti after the owners of Infiniti agreed to close the venue until this matter had been sorted out within a court room.
Local police said that there was an ongoing investigation into the Liberty Poker Club and should Club Infiniti have continued to be in operation, there was a possibility that they too would face criminal charges.
